THE SCHOOL

Our dynamic team of young Spanish language teachers has been functioning successfully for several years, teaching Spanish to students from many different countries, especially within the European Union.

Our aim is to contribute towards a better understanding among people in Europe, as well as to offer students the opportunity to improve their knowledge and understanding of Latin American culture of those countries where Spanish is the mother tongue.

We hope this brochure will provide all the information you need about the courses we offer, but please feel free to contact us. We will be delighted to help.

THE LOCATION OF THE SCHOOL: CANET

Canet is situated on the mediterranean coast, about 40 km from Barcelona, and is a small, peaceful town which preserves all the original qualities of a coastal town, since there is hardly any tourism in the area. The town itself has some magnificent beaches, which are a pleasure to walk along. There is also a maritime walk which runs parallel to the beach, or you can also choose to walk through the wooded hillsides around the town.

Canet offers you many advantages, such as uncrowded beaches (only 15 % of Canet's income is from tourism), sunshine for more than 300 days a year, close contact with nature in the surrounding pine forests, and the close proximity to Barcelona ( a 45 minute drive away).

CLASSES

Classes consist of four 45 minute lessons daily, from Monday to Friday.
The maximum number of students per class is 8, ensuring a good student-teacher rapport, and individual attention.
Our teachers all hold a University degree.
Classes are divided into 5 levels, so you can be sure to find the right level for you own needs, and maximise your learning skills.
All students who take part in our Spanish courses will receive a certificate of attendance.

TEACHING MATERIALS

In addition to our own teaching materials, we use a textbook called Español 2000, an extremely useful book for students at beginner, elementary and intermediate levels. This book is available to buy or hire at the school office.
Teaching at more advanced levels is based on original material, taken from newspapers, magazines, literature and grammatical exercises devised by the school.

LEVELS

Students are required to do a placement test on the first day of the course, in order to ensure correct grouping. You will be placed in one of the following groups:

 LEVEL A - Beginners
For students with no previous knowledge of Spanish. The aim is to reach a level at which you can communicate in everyday situations using basic vocabulary. LEVEL B - Elementary
For those who have a basic knowledge of Spanish, but wish to improve their communicative skills, particularly conversation.
At this level, present, past and future verb tenses are covered, giving the student the ability to take part in everyday conversations.

LEVEL C + D - Intermediate
There is a more significant grammatical input at this level, aiming to broaden student's vocabulary and build up self confidence. A wide range of tenses are covered at this level, with special attention paid to subjuntive tenses.

 LEVEL E - Advanced
At this level, more complex grammatical structures are covered and carried out using texts from Spanish literature and current affairs.
Our aim is to promote fluency in speaking and writing.
